FAQs

How to become a seller?

Please DM our official Instagram account @secondlifemarkets OR fill out the form on the 'Apply To Sell' page, with a small description about your curation along with some photos showcasing your pre-loved pieces. We are looking for collections that are unique, of high quality and ready for a second life. We will do our best to reply to everyone; successful candidates will be contacted via DM with further information.   

How often are your events?

We run our events quarterly to encourage slow consumption. This allows for organic time for our sellers to re-stock their second-hand and up-cycled pieces.

We announce the 3-4 weeks before via Instagram.


Do we take cash or card?

We take both cash and card on the day. Most of our sellers have card machines but it's always good to bring a little bit of cash just in case. Our door entry will take cash and card as well but we encourage you to purchase your tickets online. 


Is this a ticketed event?

Tickets are available from our website or on the door. Purchase them in the lead-up to the event to make sure you don't miss out! Ticket prices will vary depending on the venue and other underlying costs. Door sales will always be available on the day as well. 


Opening times?

It depends on the season. In summer we like to start earlier and for our winter events, we allow for a bit more of a sleep-in. Please check our Instagram or the ticket section on our website for more information. 


Location?

Our location in each city can change depending on venue availability.

What is the Second Life Movement?

Established in 2019, Second Life Markets started with the goal of changing the stigma around purchasing second-hand fashion. We both have worked in fashion our entire careers, Stella as a luxury fashion buyer and Meg as a sustainable designer, and are continuously disappointed and frustrated by how pollutive and excessive the industry is. It is constantly driving towards cheaper, more disposable fashions, encouraging a disgusting amount of overconsumption and waste. We want to encourage our community to use their purchasing power towards products that already exist in the world. Not only that, at our events you can find pre-loved pieces that are unique to everyone else, of higher quality and for an affordable price. At Second Life Markets, you can try something on, know where it came from, chat with the seller and leave confidently knowing you made the right purchase. Fashion isn't going away, so this movement is about creating a more circular fashion system for us as individual consumers and changing our mindset towards thoughtful and sustainable purchasing decisions.
